Summer Reads & Library Bags... + giveaway

I don't know if it's because I profess to be a writer that people constantly feel compelled to ask me
"what good books have you read lately?"

Okay people. It's confession time. I haven't been the hugest reader these days.
Do you know how much time it takes to write a freaking novel?
Ha ha... seriously?
So, to be quite honest, I'm wondering what my next read should be? Husband & I will be leaving the country next week & between plane & ferry rides,
I would like to read to consume the time.
{No editing on this trip.
And there's only so much talking Husband can take.}

My question is... what's good? I need some assistance.
What are your favorite reads? Don't be shy. We all have our different styles & genres. I like everything so don't hold back. {Except sleaze. Surprisingly I don't like sleaze. Go figure.}

Your help please.

So let's segue from sleaze to kids...

To get the kids involved, here is the most darling idea {& template} for those frequent library outings this summer.

These bags are so versatile. They could be used for crafts, church, babysitting bags... The kids will love to have their own bags & the name tag & holder for their library cards are super clever as well.

Happy Reading to all!
Don't forget to leave your recommendation.
P.S... sneaky, sneaky...
Leave a comment & perhaps I'll make an extra for your kiddo too.

  4. Confession here...I don't read. Not books, anyway. My reading is pretty much online. ;) I have just never picked it up as a hobby. But I want my kids to enjoy it, so I buy them books galore and make regular trips to the library. So these bags would be fantastic! Especially since we are quite good at misplacing them!

    Have a great trip....hope you find a good book.

  6. I like Mary Higgins Clark and she came out with a new one a few months ago but I don't remember the name. Also, My Sister's Keeper is a really good book. It is better than the movie and has a way different ending and story. I'm also a fan of Nicholas Sparks pretty much anything he writes I recommend. My favirote is the follow up to the notebook and it is called the Wedding. Um there are some books called Everything you need to know about Histoy, or Mythology, Science etc... Those are good a little slow reading but good facts. I have the history one. I don't know if you are LDS but there is a author named Lynn Gardner her first book to a series is Emeralds and Espionage. Really good series. I also like to read Arizona Highway Magazines and Readers Digest. Readers Digest has good stories in it. Also another favirote is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. He was a professor at Carnegie Mellon and was asked to speak. It was his last lecture and then he passed away from cancer. The lecture is about life and his message to people and his kids. Very good book. Sorry I rambled on. Any questions?

  9. I read a book that was awesome, it's called Shattered Silence, about a woman (who ended up getting baptized) who found out her dad was a serial killer, true story. She was on Opera and Dr. Phil, it was a really great book.

  10. Heather, I don't know if you've already skipped the country (is that Victoria--Love Victoria!) but here's a few of my recent favorites:
    The Hunger Games (don't let the synopsis scare you away, it is seriously good. I don't know of anyone who has read it and didn't love it)
    The Help
    The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate
    Have fun!
